Marsh Creek Skatepark

October 1st, 2008

Yesterday was the groundbreaking ceremony for Raleigh’s Marsh Creek Skatepark: the only park in Raleigh (and only the second in Wake county) designed for skating enthusiasts.

The park itself will be a jewel for the skateboarding kids of Raleigh. We’re not talking a few plywood half-pipes nailed together but an X-Games-worthy arena. The amazing renderings of the park shows concrete bowls with ramps, “volcanoes,” and other gravity-defying shapes for skateboarders to catch air.

If gravity’s really holding you back then Marsh Creek will soon be your place.

Raleigh seeks public input on new Parks and Rec director

May 23rd, 2008

Raleigh city manager Russell Allen seeks public input on the search for the new Parks and Recreation director. Please send him your feedback by June 16th:

The search for Raleigh’s new Parks and Recreation Director is underway, with an application closing date of June 30. The Parks and Recreation Department provides vital services to our community, and the selection of the department’s Director is an important decision. As I proceed with the selection process, the community’s input will be important to me, and I am inviting and encouraging you to share your thoughts. Please complete this survey and return it to me by June 16, so your opinions arrive in plenty of time to play a role in shaping the selection of our next Parks and Recreation Director.

I appreciate your feedback. Please respond by mail to my attention at City of Raleigh,
PO Box 590, Raleigh, NC 27602. If you prefer, you may complete this survey online at www.raleighnc.gov/parksandrecdirector.
